The Studio Behind the Easel

A small, independent guide run by people who draw for a living and test tablets the way they use them: late, long and with deadlines.

A night studio desk lit by one lamp, with a pen display, sketchbooks and worn stylus nibs

Why we started

Spec sheets made every tablet sound the same. Our sketchbooks said otherwise. BoulevardMoonBiscut exists to describe what a pen feels like on a surface, so you can choose by line and workflow instead of by the biggest number on the box.

How we test

Every tablet draws the same set: a hairline fade, a slow pressure taper, a steady-width line across the whole surface, a tilt-shaded sphere and a full inked page. We repeat it in at least two apps, usually Clip Studio Paint and Krita, and live with the tablet for real work before ranking it.

How we stay independent

We do not accept payment for placement or reviews. Where we borrow a device from a manufacturer, we return it and say so. Rankings change when our hands tell us to, not when a brand asks.
